My family name is often misspelled (and mispronounced), since “Haas” is a more common spelling. My father used to correct people by saying, “It’s one a and two s’s, as in donkey.” It was an effective strategy. That explanation tended to stick in people’s minds. One of his friends liked it so much that he drew this logo, which my father (who was a professional photographer) kept taped up in his darkroom. I’ve adopted both the strategy and the logo.
By the way, my name is pronounced like the word “hat” with the t replaced by a pair of s’s.
