I seem to be stuck on birds lately. They do add a splash of color to an often dreary winter landscape.

I was lucky enough to catch this guy showing off his coloration just at dusk. Although he appears to be headless, his head is hidden behind his body and right wing.

I took this a few weeks ago, when we had some snow on the ground. The golden hour sun on this tree trunk caught my eye.


Bringing back an oldie this week. It seems like the right time of year for it.
